Red Apple TV programming airs 24 hours a day, and the vast majority of
programming is produced by the Red Apple TV staff.

With the exception of some specialized programming such as DMPS School Board Meetings and other special events, Red Apple TV runs on a continuous loop. We keep our features brief and repeat them often so we have a better chance of catching our viewer's attention and keeping it. Depending on how much programming we have, our stories usually repeat one to three times per hour.

Q. You were out to my school/event/class the other day. When will I see it on Red Apple TV?
A. As soon as we can.

Most programming is on the air within a week or two, but it can be longer. Red Apple TV is run by two guys in the Community Relations department of the Des Moines Public Schools. There are 60+ buildings in the school district. We always have a project board full of stories we're trying to get on the air! We always love story ideas and trying new techniques, but sometimes this leads to a delay in getting a story on the air. Please be patient! If you have questions, feel free to contact us.

RED APPLE TV PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS
Below you'll see descriptions of all the different types of programming we create for Red Apple TV. Not all programs will be on at all times - The amount of each kind of content varies throughout the year. But this gives an overview of what you may find on Red Apple TV if you tune in at any given moment.

Classroom Connections is a public affairs discussion on issues important to students, teachers and parents in Des Moines Public Schools. As our "potted plant" show, this series allows us to showcase DMPS programs in a "talk show" environment. Take a look at Classroom Connections.

FEATURES
A little longer than newsbriefs, Feature stories give us a chance to look a little deeper into an event or activity. If a subject needs a little more time than we could dedicate to it in a newsbrief, we'll make it a feature story. Features usually last anywhere from 5-10 minutes.

Film School features videos made by students and teachers in the Des Moines Schools. Any teacher can submit multimedia content for possible air time on Red Apple TV. See the Film School page to learn how to submit content.

Gallery 12 features student artwork from around the Des Moines Schools. Visit the Gallery 12 site to see all the student artwork.

Center Stage is a fine arts showcase. We'll show off the musical and acting talent of students from around the district.
We no longer produce Center Stage, however we do have hopes of reviving this program in the future. Click here to find out why.

NEWSBRIEFS
Snippets about what's happenning in the Des Moines Public Schools. Many suggestions for the things we cover in newsbriefs come from parents, teachers or simply other Red Apple TV viewers who use the form on our website. Newsbrief segments usually consist of 2-4 stories and are 3-7 minutes long.

The Spotlight features students, teachers or programs in the Des Moines Schools in a more casual way than our Features. While Features are written so the anchor is telling the story, Spotlights are written and shot so the interviewees are telling the story, with no anchor to help pull the story along. See all previous Spotlights here.

School Board Meetings are broadcast
on Tuesday (live if there is a meeting in session), Thursday and Sunday at 6:00pm.

The school board usually meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month. These meetings are shown live on Red Apple TV . See the school board website for exact meeting dates. This meeting is then replayed the following Thursday and Sunday, and follows that same pattern until the next live Tuesday meeting. In other words, there is always a board meeting being shown on Red Apple TV Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 6:00p.

SnapShots features photos taken from district events. Many of the photos in these segments are taken by the official district photographer, however, if you have 40-50 images of your event, you're welcome to submit them to us for a SnapShots segment. Please contact us at redappletv@dmps.k12.ia.us, and we will get instructions to you on how to submit photos. Visit the SnapShots page to see previous galleries.
