After 10 years of being "Channel 12" on Mediacom cable, our channel number and name changed on April 27, 2010. As part of Mediacom Cable's ongoing effort to improve services to it's customers, our channel has been moved to the digital lineup and can now be found on channels 85 or 97-3, depending on your TV's technology.
If you currently subscribe to Mediacom digital cable, simply tune your DVR or Digital Receiver to channel 85 instead of Red Apple TV, and you'll see Red Apple TV. If you have a new Flat Screen TV, plugged directly into the cable from the wall (rather than into a DVR or Digital Receiver), tune your TV to channel 97-3. If you have an older, tube-type TV plugged directly into the cable from the wall, you will need a digital to analog converter box. This is available for free, but you will have to contact Mediacom to receive this box.

If you still need help, Mediacom Customer Service is availalbe at 888.847.6228. We are still part of the most basic package available from Mediacom Cable, so if you have Mediacom service to your house, you are able to receive Red Apple TV!
Our name and channel number changed, but our content hasn't. We continue to tell the stories of the students, teachers and parents in the Des Moines Public Schools just as we have for the past 10 years. We look forward to many more years of telling those stories, now as
Red Apple TV. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why did you change channel numbers? Why not just stay on "Digital Channel 12"
A: As Mediacom moves to digital technology, they are moving all Public, Education and Government (PEG) channels to a unified numbering system across the state. So whether you live in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Souix City or anywhere else in the state, the educational access channel will exist on channel 85.
Q: Is the new channel High Definition?
A: While we do have the ability to shoot and edit in HD, Mediacom will not provide our channel with the bandwidth needed for HD content. The only way we will become HD is if Mediacom allows us to have this bandwidth. We are working with Mediacom in hopes of having this bandwidth someday.
